For local moves, 2 to 4 weeks ahead is a good target. For long-distance or larger household moves, 4 to 6 weeks is advisable. During the busy season between May and September, booking earlier gives you the best availability. That said, we do our best to accommodate last-minute requests, so it’s always worth calling even if your move is coming up soon.
Mid-week moves, typically Tuesday through Thursday, tend to be easier to schedule than weekend moves. Saturdays are the most in-demand moving day of the week. If your schedule is flexible, a weekday move can mean better availability and a crew that isn’t stretched between back-to-back jobs.
A one to two bedroom home typically takes 2 to 4 hours. A three to four bedroom home generally runs 5 to 8 hours, depending on volume, access at both properties, and whether packing is included. We give you a time estimate when we quote the job so you can plan your day accordingly.
Yes, we recommend being present at least at the start and end of the move. Being there at the beginning lets us walk through the property with you and confirm what’s being moved. Being there at the destination means you can direct placement of furniture and boxes. If you can’t be present the whole time, make sure someone you trust is available to answer questions.
A few things make moving day run more smoothly. Have boxes packed and sealed before the crew arrives if you’re not using our packing service. Clear a path through the home for carrying large items. Reserve parking near the entrance if needed. Set aside anything that won’t be going on the truck, such as valuables, medications, and important documents, so nothing gets packed by mistake.
There are certain items moving companies cannot legally or safely transport. These typically include hazardous materials such as propane tanks, paint, and chemicals, as well as perishable food, plants, and certain high-value items. We’ll go over any restrictions specific to your move when you request your quote.
Tipping is not required but is always appreciated. If your crew did a good job, a common guideline is $20 to $50 per mover for a local move and $50 or more per mover for a longer or more demanding job. It is entirely up to you.
If something is damaged during your move, we take responsibility and work to resolve it promptly. You won’t be left chasing a claim on your own. When booking any moving company, always confirm they are properly licensed and insured before signing anything.
Woodinville has a mix of property types, from larger family homes on residential streets to newer apartment complexes and properties near the wine country corridor. Some areas have access considerations worth planning around, including narrow driveways, limited street parking, and HOA restrictions on certain communities. Our familiarity with the area means we anticipate these things before moving day rather than figuring them out on arrival.
